At about 8 am on June 18, 2018, I was ready to start working in the workshop as usual. At that moment, I suddenly heard a rumble, the earth began to shake, and the ground began to cave in. When we saw the door of the workshop closed with a bang, we realized that it was an earthquake, and my colleagues and I scrambled to escape the building. When I had finally run to an open place, the fear and terror of the moment truly struck me. Although I knew Japan was a country with many earthquakes, I never expected to actually experience one. In that moment, my mind was a blank and my legs went soft. Aside from constantly calling out to God, I didn’t know what else to do. Through prayer, I gradually calmed myself. https://reurl.cc/X2aDD

In just a few minutes, more than a hundred people were gathered in the open space, everyone looked flustered. Some stood there with blank expressions, too terrified to move, while others couldn’t stop trembling, and others still clung to each other in fear. One of my female colleagues said anxiously, “Oh no, I bought a necklace a few days ago, and I still have a lot of jewelry at home. If my house collapses, all those things will be gone!” The person standing next to her also nervously said, “My gold and silver jewelry is also at home, I didn’t bring it out with me.” At this moment, the older woman who had been crying said proudly, “I’ve been through an earthquake before, and it scared me to death. Ever since then, I carry my passport, bank cards, and all my valuables with me every day.” I looked at her, and she had five rings and two bracelets in her hands. While she was talking, some of my other colleagues began to cry in fear.
When I saw the way my colleagues behaved, I suddenly felt very sad, as if I wanted to cry but couldn’t. I felt that we were living pitiable lives. We often say that fate is in our hands, but when disaster comes, who can control what happens to oneself in the next moments? But it seems like no one was thinking about that question. Even in the panic of an earthquake, people were still worried about their money and jewelry. At that moment, I remembered a passage from God’s word, “Because people do not recognize God’s orchestrations and God’s sovereignty, they always face fate defiantly, with a rebellious attitude, and always want to cast off God’s authority and sovereignty and the things fate has in store, hoping in vain to change their current circumstances and alter their fate.” I realized that because we don’t understand God’s sovereignty, we don’t understand that people’s fate is in God’s hands, which is why we all want to change our fates, and why we are so busy working to earn money and pursuing the life we want. The truth is that we are just small, insignificant individual people. Who could possibly control and change their own fate? When I thought of this, I was especially grateful to God for His kindness in giving me the privilege to hear the voice of God and recognize God’s sovereignty. So, I silently called out to God in my heart, asking God to guide me and give me the courage to face the earthquake. Slowly, I wasn’t so scared, and I knew that God was my strongest protection.
We stayed outside for nearly half an hour, and when we saw that there were no more aftershocks, our boss sent us back to work. When we returned to the workshop, my colleagues were still in fear, and didn’t have any heart to work at all, so they all asked for leave and went home, until finally only myself and two Vietnamese people were left.
There were four aftershocks that night, but I wasn’t afraid, because I relied on God. When I went to work the next day, I saw several colleagues carrying large pieces of luggage to work. Some even carried their luggage with them when they went to the cafeteria to eat, saying that they could escape at any moment if an earthquake hit. In the next few days, the aftershocks continued, and everything my colleagues talked about had to do with the earthquake. Some were checking the price of tickets back to their countries every day, and they were ready to buy tickets if the earthquake happened again. Although I was affected to some degree by these circumstances, and was afraid for my own safety, by reading God’s words, I was able to face it calmly. https://reurl.cc/X2aDD
I thought of God’s words: “One exhausts a lifetime’s worth of energy fighting against fate, spends all of one’s time bustling about trying to feed one’s family and shuttling back and forth between wealth and status. The things that people treasure are family, money, and fame; they view these as the most valuable things in life. All people complain about their fates, yet still they push to the back of their minds the questions that it is most imperative to examine and understand: why man is alive, how man should live, what the value and meaning of life is. All of their lives, however many years that may be, they just rush about seeking fame and fortune, until their youth has fled, until they become gray and wrinkled; until they see that fame and fortune cannot stop one’s slide toward senility, that money cannot fill the emptiness of the heart; until they understand that no one is exempt from the law of birth, aging, sickness, and death, that no one can escape what fate has in store. … When one has property, one thinks that money is one’s mainstay, that it is one’s asset in life; when people have status, they cling tightly to it and would risk their lives for its sake. Only when people are about to let go of this world do they realize that the things they spent their lives pursuing are nothing but fleeting clouds, none of which they can hold onto, none of which they can take with them, none of which can exempt them from death, none of which can provide company or consolation to a lonely soul on its way back; and least of all, none of which can give a person salvation, allow them to transcend death.” Yes, the influence of views like “money comes first” and “money makes the world go round” makes us regard money as the only thing we can rely on, and makes us think that having money means we have everything, which is why we spend our lives fighting so hard for it, but we never think about where our lives come from, or the real value and significance of our existence. Is money really something we can rely on? I thought about my colleagues, and how each of them had saved a lot of money, but when the earthquake came, did that money buy them a safe and secure life? The earthquake filled them with fear and insecurity. I thought about the earthquake in Wenchuan, China in 2008. How many rich people escaped that earthquake? Were they not affected by the disaster all the same? So many facts are laid out before us, but because we have not come before God, we do not reflect on the value and meaning of life, and we do not realize that the money we love is something outside of us, something that cannot bring us peace or save us from disaster. This is truly a great tragedy for humanity!
I remembered that when I first came to Japan, my only thought was to make money. My job was to polish the parts of the car that had just come off the production line, and there was a lot of dust produced in the process of grinding, dust which contained a lot of lead. Even wearing two breathing masks, there were still two dark circles below my nose at the end of the day. And it was summer, so the temperature in the workshop was over 40 degrees, and we had to work at least 10 hours a day. At the end of the day, my clothes were soaked. My body couldn’t take such heavy work, and I started to feel numbness in my right arm and fingers. Fortunately, God’s salvation came to me just in time, and through God’s miraculous arrangements I was able to change my job to product testing. The work was easier, and gradually my hand recovered. But, because I didn’t know God’s sovereignty, I couldn’t see the value and meaning of life. Although I followed God, I didn’t give up my pursuit of money. I still chose to work overtime when there was a conflict between overtime and meetings. After the earthquake, I thought about that very carefully. Without God’s care and protection, when disaster and death come, all the money in the world couldn’t rid me of the fear and terror in my heart or give me a sense of spiritual security, and even less could it safeguard my life.

Later, I read God’s words, “At the moment when a person is born, one lonely soul begins its experience of life on earth, its experience of the Creator’s authority which the Creator has arranged for it. Needless to say, for the person, the soul, this is an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge of the Creator’s sovereignty, to come to know His authority and to experience it personally. … If one views life as an opportunity to experience the Creator’s sovereignty and come to know His authority, if one sees one’s life as a rare chance to perform one’s duty as a created human being and to fulfill one’s mission, then one will necessarily have the correct outlook on life, will live a life blessed and guided by the Creator, will walk in the light of the Creator, know the Creator’s sovereignty, come under His dominion, become a witness to His miraculous deeds and to His authority. Needless to say, such a person will necessarily be loved and accepted by the Creator, and only such a person can hold a calm attitude toward death, can joyfully welcome life’s final juncture.” God’s word made me understand the value and meaning of living as a created being. All that I have comes from God, it was God that gave me the opportunity to understand His sovereignty and authority, and He also gave me the chance to fulfill the duties of a created being. I ought to pursue the truth, experience God’s work, pursue knowledge of God, and fulfill my duty as a created thing. These are the correct goals to pursue in life. Later, I spoke with my bosses to request a reduction in my overtime work, and they agreed. When I could attend meetings regularly with my brothers and sisters, I felt a release in my heart that I have never felt before. Thanks be to God for making me reflect on my life and giving me a new understanding through this earthquake. Now, I know how to live so that my soul feels peace and joy.https://reurl.cc/X2aDD

The laws of living for all things set by God benefit us a lot. Let’s see how she experienced God’s sovereignty and saw His good intentions during her trip on the farm.

Recently, a friend told me a true story, which had a great impact on my soul: In order to live a better life, a couple crossed the ocean to Japan to work. However, the fast-paced lifestyle and the overload of work made them exhausted and miserable, to the point that several times they wanted to give up their work. But when they got monthly earnings, they would forget themselves in happiness, ignoring physical fatigue. They thought that so long as they earned great wealth, they could build their house, take their families abroad, and then they could feel proud and elated before their relatives and friends. So, they endured pains and continued to pursue their dreams. One day, the husband suddenly fell ill, and then went to the hospital for examinations. The result showed that he was in the late stages of cancer. In order to save her husband’s life, the wife spent all their earnings on his treatment, buying the best medicine for him and letting him receive treatment in the best hospital, but finally he still died. Before his death, he said to his wife: “Dear, I’m only 30 years old, but I am about to leave this world, and leave you. I’m really reluctant! You and our children are all before me, but I can’t take you with me! No matter how good and big the house is, I can’t take it, either! No matter how much money I earn, can it give back my life? Everything is in vain! Everything is in vain …” His heartfelt words touched his wife’s heart. When she saw her husband was filled with regret, tears came streaming down her face. Hearing this, I felt sorry for that husband, and couldn’t help sighing: The lives of us humans are so fragile. Even though we possess more money and have higher reputation, it still can’t cure us of the disease or save our lives. We can’t bring them into the world and can’t take them with us after we die. Will not all be empty in the end? Then I curiously asked my friend what happened to this wife later. My friend continued the story: The spending on the husband’s treatment and his death made the situation of this family become worse. So as not to be looked down upon by others, every day this wife exhausted her energy to earn money and couldn’t stop just like a wound watch. Because of working like this year after year, finally she broke down and got insomnia, hypertension and heart disease, being dizzy and groggy every day just like riding on a roller coaster. The tiredness of life and the torment of illnesses made her more miserable who had already been under great stress of bringing up three children. It was not until the doctor said that her blood vessels would disintegrate and her life would be in danger if she continued to overwork like this that she had no choice but to stop working. At that moment, she crumpled to the floor, bursting out crying. However, it was too late. No matter how much money she had, it couldn’t give her back her health. Hearing my friend’s narration, I couldn’t help being in deep thought: Now, I don’t lack material comforts and have my own career, but it’s full of hardships and frustrations as I walk the way. For the sake of wealth and fame, I worked my fingers to the bone every day, like a tight-wound spring, sacrificing my health; besides, I had to skillfully deal with the complicated personal relationships, scheming against each other and deceiving each other more and more. The increase of money and the temporary enjoyment of obtaining fame didn’t bring me the true happiness, but instead I was exhausted physically and mentally and extremely miserable. I couldn’t refrain from reconsidering: Why do we live so miserably? Exactly how should we live a life of significance and value? Afterward, I saw these words in a book: “One exhausts a lifetime’s worth of energy fighting against fate, spends all of one’s time bustling about trying to feed one’s family and shuttling back and forth between wealth and status. … Only when people are about to let go of this world do they realize that the things they spent their lives pursuing are nothing but fleeting clouds, none of which they can hold onto, none of which they can take with them, none of which can exempt them from death, none of which can provide company or consolation to a lonely soul on its way back; and least of all, none of which can give a person salvation, allow them to transcend death. Fame and fortune one gains in the material world give one temporary satisfaction, passing pleasure, a false sense of ease, and make one lose one’s way. And so people, as they thrash about in the vast sea of humanity, craving peace, comfort, and tranquility of heart, are subsumed again and again beneath the waves. When people have yet to figure out the questions that it is most crucial to understand—where they come from, why they are…

By Lele Spring arrives with silent footsteps. After a whole year of waiting, cherry blossom trees display their best side; they clothed in their most beautiful flowers and they stand out among all sorts of trees. Not to be outdone, weeping willows also can’t wait to play their trump card—their graceful lines, which are still so well-kept after years of being battered by the wind and rain that even fish vie to hop to shake hands with them. Wild flowers come into bloom, red and purple and yellow; putting on their new coats, they confidently sway in the wind. Grass comes to provide patches: Like a streak it overgrows the land, and sets off the flowers in them. Small animals come to life from their winter sleep. Some poke their little heads out, some stretch lazily, and others lay on the green land, enjoyably bathing in the sunshine. Hares casually eat some grass, and then begin to chase one another. … The wind blows off the cherry flowers. In the blink of an eye, the falling petals flutter in the air, and the delicate fragrance sends their last sweet kiss to people. After several strong winds, summer arrives in a hurry. It quickly enlivens the mountains, lakes, jungles, and fields, bringing vibrancy to them, and then come the lush greenery and pounding waves. It’s really a passionate season. Then follows the hot summer with the burning sun like a fire. The plane-trees on either side of the road stretch their arms generously, providing pedestrians with a shelter against sunshine. Cicadas chant their everlasting songs without stint. Night is always the liveliest: Geckos get out to play about in the cool of the evening; frogs vie to sing their own songs; fireflies hurry to serve as lamps for pedestrians…. In autumn, the bright red persimmons hang on the trees in the courtyard, sweet and pleasant to the eyes. In this fruitful season, pomegranates “laugh” with their “mouths” open as if nobody is near, and they don’t care how many “teeth” are exposed so as to express their characteristics and freedom. In this golden autumn, fallen leaves are naturally the common scenery that will never fade away. Their unique charm arouses people’s attention: Some take a seat there for a while to think about their lives; some take a walk in the wood, enjoying the beauty of the scenery; some select their favorite leaves to make samples…. Winter has waited for long and finally goes on the stage. In this season, wild flowers return to their roots and grass is withered, only the wintersweets blossom and pines and cypresses remain green. Seemingly, the winter is desolate, without the heated excitement in summer. But this kind and amiable “old man” spreads his “savings” and offers a different charm. The cold hand of winter spreads a white carpet throughout the wide world, in a flash, trees, the earth and everywhere are snow-covered. The signs of other seasons are nowhere to be found because they know the carpet is the ever-unchanging symbol and warmth of the “old man.” Outside the cottages are several snowmen in sight. A worn broom and a carrot are always most properly put on them. People can take a break during this season. Animals have preserved their food to pass through this cold winter. Chickens and ducks have matured and cattle and sheep have grown strong. These fowls are ready to become people’s food on the table in every household. After visiting their neighbors and having chats with them, people go back to their own homes. Looking at the plenty of grains in the barns, they sit around the stove talking about their plan for the year ahead. … I have passed through tens of springs, summers, autumns, and winters, I have visited oceans and rivers, and I have walked across the grasslands and mountains; all things are really so marvelous that I couldn’t help wondering: Mysteries are everywhere in the nature, and all of them are so miraculous. However, who created all these things on earth? … Until one day, I read God’s words: “God created all things, each of which lives through different forms and different ways and uses different methods to exhibit its power and form of life. No matter what method, it is all under God’s rule.” “The authority of the Creator not only gives the vitality of life to seemingly static material objects, so that they will never disappear, but, moreover, gives the instinct to reproduce and multiply to every living being, so that they will never vanish, and so that, generation after generation, they will pass on the laws and principles of survival endowed to them by the Creator. The manner in which the Creator exerts His authority does not rigidly adhere to a macro or micro viewpoint, and is not limited to any form; He is able to command the operations of the universe, and hold sovereignty over the life and death of all things, and, moreover, is able to maneuver all things so that they serve Him; He can manage all the workings of the mountains, rivers, and lakes, and rule all things within them, and, what’s more, is able to provide that which is needed by all things. This is the manifestation of the unique authority of the Creator amongst all things besides mankind. Such a manifestation is not just for a lifetime, and shall never cease, or rest, and cannot be altered or damaged by any person or thing, nor can it be added to or reduced by any person or thing—for none can replace the identity of the Creator, and, therefore, the authority of the Creator cannot be replaced by any created being, and is unattainable by any non-created being.” It turns out that God created this world and mankind, and directs the growth patterns of all things, the patterns which are never changed starting from the existence of all things until now. Regardless of spring sowing or winter’s storage, day or night,…

When I was a child, my next-door neighbor was an old doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and I always liked playing at his house. Every time I went to his home, I could detect the strong smell of herb before I entered the yard. As soon as I came into the yard, I saw herbs put on the walls, on the steps, and in the dustpans. I was so curious about them and asked: “Grandpa, these grasses seem to be very ordinary, why do you take them home?” He was grinding herbs at the same time as he pointed to all kinds of herbs and explained them to me with patience: “They aren’t ordinary grasses. You could never belittle them, of which the uses are inestimable. Look, this is Artemisia argyi, which could be used to repel mosquitoes, dispel cold, reduce the swelling, and cure rheumatism. This is Cirsium setosum, which could be used for stanching the bleeding, detoxification, and clearing heat. …” Listening to his words, I felt that these herbs were very miraculous. I never would have thought how valuable these ordinary plants by the roadside were. When I was in primary school, my stomach often hurt because of not eating sensibly. My mother would stir-fry some Chinese red pepper, and crush them up. And then she made me have the soup that was added some pepper. I felt warmth in my stomach as soon as I had finished soup. Before long, the pain in my stomach disappeared. I so frequently caught a cold in secondary school that I suffered from rhinitis and often had a blocked nose. When the illness became severe enough, it gave me a headache. And it was difficult for me to breathe when I was asleep. My condition did not improve after I took lots of Western medicines. Later, my mother unintentionally learned that magnolia flower and the stem of catnip that were boiled together could cure rhinitis. She wanted me to try it, but I harbored considerable doubts about it. I thought to myself: “I have taken medicines for so long, but my illness doesn’t improve at all. Can it cure my illness?” Therefore, I was unwilling to try it. However, the rhinitis made me feel very unwell; in addition, my mother persuaded me to have a try time after time. So I, with an attitude of making every possible effort, tried it for a month. I had not imagined that it became easy for me to breathe through nose and the pain in my head went off. I continued to take the medicine for another month. I was completely cured of my rhinitis and never suffered a relapse. From then on, I felt in my heart of hearts that these plants were very good and very miraculous. I was also curious all the time: How could these ordinary plants cure diseases? Moreover, different plants can cure different diseases; the mix of several plants can cure many diseases. Who gave them the medical effects? I never found the answer all along. Not until did I believe in God and read His word, I finally knew the secrets within. God says: “Among all things, whether it is animals, plants, or all kinds of grass, God also created some plants that are necessary to resolve harm or illness to the human body. What do you do, for instance, if you get burned? Can you wash it with water? Can you just find a piece of cloth somewhere and wrap it up? It might fill up with pus or get infected that way. What do you do, for instance, if you get scalded accidentally by a flame or by hot water? Can you flush it with water? For instance, if you get a fever, catch a cold, suffer an injury from physical work, a stomach ailment from eating the wrong thing, or develop certain diseases due to living habits or emotional issues, such as vascular diseases, psychological conditions or diseases of the internal organs—there are corresponding plants to cure all of these. There are plants that improve blood circulation to remove stagnation, relieve pain, stanch bleeding, provide anesthesia, help people recover normal skin, eliminate blood stasis in the body, and eliminate toxins from the body. In short, they can all be used in daily life. They are of use to people and have been prepared by God for the human body in case of need. Some of these were allowed by God to be inadvertently discovered by man, while others were discovered from certain special phenomena or by certain people prepared by God. Following their discovery, mankind would pass them down, and then many people would know about them. This way, God’s creation of these plants has value and meaning. In short, these things are all from God and were prepared and planted when He created a living environment for mankind. All of these things are very necessary. Doesn’t it show that when God created the heavens and earth and all things, His considerations were better thought out than those of mankind? When you see all that God has done, are you able to feel God’s practical side? God worked in secret. When man had not yet come into this world, before coming into touch with this mankind, God had already created all of this. Everything He did was for the sake of mankind, for the sake of their survival, and for the consideration of mankind’s existence, so that mankind can live in this rich and plentiful material world God prepared for them, and so that they can live happily, not having to worry about food or clothes, and not lacking in anything.” God’s words released my years of confusion. It turned out that all of this was created and ordained by God. God created all things, and also created us mankind. Only God understands us best and knows what we need. So, before God created mankind, He had prepared everything: what we eat,…

The radio hotline: The host (Qianxun): Hello, everyone. Here is the broadcasting station of “Love Stage.” This is the host Qianxun. The host (Xiangguang): This is the host Xiangguang. The host (Qianxun): I’m grateful that God prepares us another chance to openly fellowship with each other. The host (Xiangguang): The Lord Jesus once said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3). “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). No matter what difficulties or confusion we have, I believe that God will guide and lead us as long as we have a heart of seeking humbly and longing for the truth. I’d like all of us to come before God with a lowly and yearning heart, to seek God’s intention and to find the path toward resolution. Next, let’s receive the hotline call and listen to what kind of questions our friends in the audience will raise. The seeker: Hello, host. This is Kemu. There is a question that has been troubling me for very long but has still not been resolved. Today, I want to use this chance to seek fellowship with brothers and sisters. My partner Jenny and I coordinated in doing the church’s work together. At the beginning, we got along well with each other. However, recently we were often unhappy because when we had different opinions or practices, we each held to our opinions. Therefore, my heart became awfully choked for this. I remember the Lord said: “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me” (John 17:20-21). It is also spoken of in another verse: “For he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us” (Ephesians 2:14). From these scriptures, we see that God is unwilling to see we are divided in our opinions, become independent and estranged from each other, but hopes that we can unite and cooperate harmoniously with each other. Though I wanted to act on the basis of God’s will and didn’t want to have misunderstanding between us, yet when we had different opinions, I still thought my idea was correct and was unwilling to accept her advice. This led to our inharmonious coordination, as well as caused the work couldn’t go ahead and that our conditions were also influenced. For this reason, I feel very distressed, and want to find the way to practice as soon as possible in order to cooperate in service harmoniously with the sister. Today I hope to get brothers and sisters’ help. The host (Qianxun): Sister Kemu, the question you raised is the tough question that many people will run into. When we coordinate with others in work, we often experience friction with them and can’t be one because we are all always pigheaded and unwilling to accept others’ opinions. If we want to resolve this problem, we should firstly find out what frustrates our oneness. As the root of the problem is discovered, the difficult problem will be solved easily. In the past, I saw such a passage of words on a website: “Don’t be self-righteous; take the strengths of others and use them to offset your own deficiencies, watch how others live by God’s words and see whether or not their lives, actions and speech is worth learning from. If you regard others as less than you then you are self-righteous, self-conceited and are of benefit to no one” (Utterances and Testimonies of Christ in the Beginning). From the words, we see the reason why we can’t cooperate harmoniously with others is because of our corrupt dispositions. We are deeply corrupted by Satan, so no matter how high or poor our calibers are, and no matter how much truth we understand, everyone’s nature is all arrogance and ego. We have become accustomed to being self-centered, using the word “I” at the beginning of what we say and do, for example, “I suppose…, I feel…, I think….” When we live on the basis of arrogant dispositions, we always think our opinions are right and that naturally others should obey us. If they air different opinions, we will resist and not obey in our hearts. Even though we don’t say anything or argue with others, in our hearts we are against them. Because we live in the corrupt dispositions, then our conditions will get bad to a low point, our spirits will be in darkness, we will lose God’s presence and thus the work won’t go ahead. We see our living according to the corrupt dispositions of Satan brings to ourselves and others the stress and pain. The host (Xiangguang): Yes. If we want to cooperate harmoniously with others and be one with them, we have to betray our satanic dispositions and should no more be arrogant, self-righteous and opinionated. Just as it was recorded in the Bible: “Thus said the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high” (Ezekiel 21:26). God teaches us to be a person who is willing to be humble. The humbler he is, the nobler he is in God’s eyes. That’s because such a person is rational. Therefore, relinquishing ourselves, being humble, discussing and communicating with others and listening to others’ suggestions are the prerequisites for our harmonious cooperation. The seeker: Oh, I understand a little from your fellowship. I was indeed self-centered at ordinary times. I always used my ideas and practices to measure the things. Therefore, when others’ opinions were different from mine, I began to resist and reject them. The dispositions I expressed were…
