1 自從人類有了社會科學以來，科學與知識就占據了人類的心靈，進而科學與知識就成了統治人類的工具，使得人類没有足够的空間去敬拜神，没有更多的有利條件去敬拜神，神在整個人類心中的地位越來越下滑。人類的心中没有神作地位的世界是黑暗的，是没有期盼的，是虚空的。隨之而來，許多社會科學家、歷史學家、政治家興起來發表他們的社會科學論、人類進化論等等這些與神創造人類的真理而相違背的論調來充實人類的頭腦與心靈。
2 相信神創造萬有的人越來越少，而相信進化論的人越來越多。越來越多的人把神作工的記録與神在舊約時代的説話當作神話傳説對待，神的尊嚴與神的偉大在人的心中淡漠了，在人的心中淡漠了，神的存在與神主宰萬有的信條在人的心中淡漠了，人類的存亡與國家民族的命運對人來説已經不重要了，人類都活在吃喝玩樂的虚空世界之中……很少有人主動尋找神今天在哪裏作工，神怎樣主宰安排人類的歸宿。
3 不知不覺中人類的文明越來越不能如人願，甚至有好多人覺得在這樣一個世界中活着反倒不如那些死去的人快樂，就連以往很文明的國家中的人也會這樣抱怨。因為没有神的帶領，哪怕統治者或社會學家都絞盡腦汁來維持人類的文明也是無濟于事的，任何一個人都不能填補人類心中的空虚，任何一個人都不能填補人類心中的空虚，因為任何一個人都不能作人的生命，任何的社會論調都不能使人擺脱空虚的困擾。

매일의 하나님 말씀 ＜자신의 잘못된 관점을 알아야 자신을 알 수 있다＞(발췌문 564)
자신을 반성하고 알아 감에 있어 가장 중요한 것이 있다. 자신이 잘했거나 옳게 했다고 생각하는 부분일수록, 하나님의 마음을 흡족게 할 수 있거나 자랑할 만하다고 여기는 부분일수록, 더 깊이 파 보며 자신에 대해 알아 가야 한다. 그 안에 대체 어떤 불순물이 있는지, 하나님의 마음을 흡족게 할 수 없는 것이 무엇이 있는지 보아야 한다. 바울을 예로 들어 보겠다. 바울은 문화적 소양이 무척 높았으며, 전도하고 사역을 할 때도 많은 고난을 겪었다. 이에 수많은 사람이 그를 매우 우러러보았다. 그래서 그는 많은 사역을 한 후, 자신을 위해 면류관이 예비되어 있다고 여겼다. 이로 인해 그는 잘못된 길에 점점 더 깊이 빠지게 되었고, 결국 하나님의 징벌을 받았다. 당시에 그가 스스로를 반성하고 해부할 수 있었더라면 그런 생각을 하지는 않았을 것이다. 즉, 바울은 예수의 말씀 속에서 진리를 찾는 데 집중하지 않고 자신의 관념과 상상만을 믿었다. 좋은 행실과 행위만 있으면 하나님께 인정받고 상을 받을 수 있다고 생각한 것이다. 그 결과 그의 관념과 상상이 그의 마음과 영혼을 가렸고, 그의 본모습을 숨겼다. 하지만 사람들은 이것을 알지 못했다. 하나님이 드러내기 전까지 사람들은 계속 바울을 자신들의 목표, 본보기로 삼았으며, 바울이야말로 자신들이 동경하고 추구하고 본받아야 할 대상이라고 여겼다. 바울의 일은 오늘날 하나님을 믿고 있는 모든 이에게 한 가지 경고를 준다. 바로 스스로가 아주 잘하고 있다고 여겨질 때, 혹은 자신이 어떤 방면에 매우 은사가 있다고 느껴질 때일수록, 혹은 스스로가 변화할 필요도, 책망받을 필요도 없다고 생각되는 부분에서 우리는 자신을 더 반성하고 인식해야 한다는 것이다. 이는 아주 필요한 것이다. 왜냐하면 자신이 괜찮다고 생각하는 부분이 있으면, 분명 그 부분은 더 파고들거나 신경 쓰지도 않고, 그 안에 하나님을 대적하는 것이 있는지 없는지를 해부하지도 않기 때문이다. 예를 들어, 자기 마음이 매우 선량하다고 생각하는 사람이 있다. 그는 여태껏 남을 미워한 적도, 해친 적도 없고, 형제자매들 집에 일이 생기면 언제나 가서 도우며, 다른 사람에게 일이 생겼는데 해결해 주지 못할까 봐 두려워한다. 그는 선한 마음을 많이 지니고 있으며, 온 힘을 다해 모든 사람을 돕는다. 그런데 그렇게 열심히 도와준 결과는 무엇이겠느냐? 자신의 생명에 지장을 주고도 득의양양해하며, 자신이 한 모든 일에 더없이 만족한다. 또 그것을 뿌듯하게 여기며, 자신이 한 모든 일이 분명 하나님의 마음을 만족게 할 수 있을 것이라고, 자기야말로 참되게 하나님을 믿는 사람이라고 생각한다. 그는 자신의 타고난 선의를 밑천으로 삼았고, 그것이 그의 밑천이 되자 아주 당연하게 그것을 진리로 여겼다. 그러나 사실 그가 행한 모든 일은 인간의 선으로, 그는 진리를 전혀 구하지 않았다. 그가 행한 그 모든 일은 다 헛수고에 불과하다. 그는 그 일들을 전부 다른 사람 앞에서 했지, 하나님 앞에서 하지는 않았으며, 나아가 하나님의 요구와 진리대로 실행하지도 않았기 때문이다. 그가 행한 그 모든 일은 진리를 실행하는 것도, 하나님 말씀을 실행하는 것도 아니었으며, 하나님의 뜻대로 행하는 것은 더더욱 아니었다. 그것은 사람의 선의와 선한 행위를 통해 남을 돕는 것이었다. 종합해 보자면, 그는 그 모든 일을 하면서 하나님의 뜻을 찾지 않았고, 하나님의 요구대로 행하지도 않았다. 그러므로 사람의 선한 행위는 하나님이 보기에 정죄받을 것, 기억할 가치가 없는 것이다.
