Many people believe that we have already been redeemed from our sins by believing in the Lord and been saved by grace, so when the Lord comes He will lift us up directly into the kingdom of heaven. But have you thought about this? Although our sins have been pardoned, when faced with trials we can still complain about and resist God. This shows that we have not escaped from the bonds and the restrictions of sin. The Lord Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever” (John 8:34–35). The kingdom of God is a holy place. Why would God allow someone who can still sin into His kingdom? Thus we see, attaining salvation and entering the kingdom of heaven are not as simple as we imagined. Then, what exactly is true salvation? What kind of people can enter the kingdom of heaven?
