If it were solely the Spirit that did the work, then man would have no way of coming to know God’s disposition. God really and truly lives among men. He is tangible; man can actually engage with His disposition, engage with what He has and is; only in this way can man truly come to know Him.

240 多少年來，人的傳統信法（就是世界三大教派中基督教的信法）就是看聖經，離開聖經就不是信主，離開聖經就是邪教，就是异教，即使看别的書也務必是在解釋聖經的基礎上的書。就是説，你若信主就得看聖經，不可在聖經以外再崇拜别的不涉及聖經的書，否則就是背叛神。自從有了聖經以來，人信主就成了信聖經。與其説人信主了，不如説人信聖經了；與其説人開始看聖經了，不如説人開始信聖經了；與其説人歸在主的面前，不如説人歸在了聖經的面前。這樣，人就把聖經當作神來拜，當作自己的命根子，若没有了聖經，相當于没有了生命。人把聖經看得與神一樣高，甚至人把聖經看得比神還高，若没有聖靈的工作，若摸不着神，這都可以活下去，但一旦失去聖經這本書，或失去聖經裏的名章、名句，人就像失去生命一樣。所以，人一信了主之後就開始看聖經、背聖經，越能背聖經的越能證明是愛主，信心大，看過聖經能給别人講的都是最好的弟兄姊妹。這麽多年來，人都是根據對聖經的理解程度來衡量人對主的忠心或人的信心。多數人根本不懂信神到底是為了什麽，也不明白信神該如何信，只是一味地搜集打開聖經章節的綫索，人也從來不追求聖靈作工的動向，只是一直在苦苦地研究聖經、調查聖經，從未有一個人能在聖經以外找着聖靈更新的工作，誰也離不開聖經，誰也不敢離開聖經。人研究聖經多少年，作了多少解釋，下了多少功夫，人對聖經的看法也有許多的分歧，一直争論不休，以致形成今天的兩千多個宗派。人都想從聖經裏找出一些高人的解釋或更深的奥秘，都想探索聖經，想從聖經裏找出一些耶和華在以色列作工的背景，或耶穌在猶太作工的背景，或更多的别人不知道的奥秘。人對聖經的看法都是「迷」，都是「信」，没有一個人能完全清楚聖經的内幕與實質，以至于到今天，人對聖經還是有一種説不出的神奇之感，而且對聖經更加「迷」，更加「信」。現在，人都想從聖經裏找着末世作工的預言，想發現神在末世作什麽工作，末世都有什麽預兆，這樣，人崇拜聖經的心越發强烈，越到末世人越迷信聖經的預言，尤其是對末世的預言。人能對聖經這樣迷信，對聖經這樣信任，那人尋求聖靈作工的心就没有了。在人的觀念中意識到：只有聖經能帶出聖靈的工作，只有在聖經裏能找着神的脚踪，只有聖經裏隱含着神作工的奥秘，只有聖經把神的一切、全部的工作都説透了，其餘的書、人都不行，聖經能將天上的工作帶到地上，聖經能開始時代也能結束時代。人有了這些觀念，對聖靈的工作就没有意思尋求了，所以説，不管以往聖經對人的幫助有多大，但到現在，聖經成了神最新工作的攔阻。若没有聖經人能另外尋求神的脚踪，但如今，神的脚踪都讓聖經給「控制」住了，最新工作的擴展簡直是難上加難、寸步難行，這些都是因為聖經的名章、名句，聖經的許多預言給造成的。聖經成了人心目中的偶像，也成了人頭腦中的「謎」，人簡直没法相信神能在聖經以外另作工作，也没法相信人離開聖經就能找着神，人更没法相信神會在最終的作工中離開聖經重新起頭，這些人都難以琢磨，不可相信，但又不可想象。聖經成了人接受神更新的工作的一大攔阻，成了神擴展更新工作的難處。

241 聖經到底是部什麽書？舊約是律法時代神作的工作，舊約聖經則是將耶和華在律法時代的工作以至于耶和華創世的工作都記載下來了，記載的都是耶和華所作的工作，最終以《瑪拉基書》結束耶和華工作的記載。舊約是記載了神作的兩項工作，一項是創世的工作，一項是頒布律法的工作，這些工作都是耶和華作的。律法時代就是代表耶和華神的名的工作，是以耶和華這個名為主的全部工作。所以説，舊約是記載耶和華的工作，新約是記載耶穌的工作，是以耶穌這個名為主的工作。耶穌的名到底是什麽意義，他所作的工作都有哪些，大部分都記載在新約裏。舊約律法時代，耶和華在以色列建造聖殿、建造祭壇，帶領以色列民在地上生活，證明以色列人是他的選民，是他在地上選的第一班合他心意的人，是他親自帶領的第一批人，以色列十二支派就是耶和華所選的第一批選民，所以他一直在他們身上作工，直到律法時代耶和華的工作結束。第二步工作就是新約恩典時代的工作，是在猶太族，在以色列十二支派當中的一個支派作，縮小了工作範圍，是因為耶穌是神道成了肉身。他只在猶太全地作工，而且只作了三年半的工作，這樣新約所記載的遠遠不能超過舊約記載的數量了。

以后外国人都进来时说：“我们早得启示了，神在中国得着一班得胜者。”你们听见后心想：“我们自己也认识到我们没有丝毫可夸口的，全是神的恩待，我们不配称为得胜者。”时间长了，真看见自己能讲点东西了，又听说外国人这里也得启示，那里也得启示，琢磨琢磨，“就是呀，圣灵都这样启示，我们比外国人明白的东西多，称得上是得胜者吧！”心里就默许承认了，到最后简直就公开承认了。人都经不住夸，经不住地位的考验，人总赞扬你，你就快垮台了。
为了防止老病重犯，首先要知道自己性情并没有变化，背叛神的本性还是根深蒂固并没有拔除，背叛神的危险依然存在，沉沦的可能随时都会临到。最主要的还有三点：第一，还没有认识神；第二，也没有性情变化；第三，还没有人模样，在好的人群中还是最次的，人都该清楚地认识到这一点。人都该预备一句座右铭，刻上或者写上“原本魔鬼”，或者“老病重犯”，或者“朝夕不保”，或者“我是粪土”这几句话，可能随时提醒一下有点小作用，但最主要的还是多读神话认识自己本性，达到真正变化这才保险。还有一点就是千万别站见证神的地位，只能讲点个人的经历，讲点神对你们的拯救，交通一下你们是怎么被征服的以及你们蒙的恩典。别忘了你们是败坏最深的人，是垃圾，是粪土，完全是蒙了神的高抬。因着你们最败坏、最污秽才蒙了神道成肉身的拯救，才蒙了神这么大恩典，所以你们就没有丝毫可夸的，只能赞美神，感谢神，你们蒙拯救纯属是神的恩待。为什么说你们是最幸运的人？幸运并不是你们有什么优势，有什么好的条件，幸运只是生在中国，被撒但败坏最深，最污秽，所以，神按照他的经营计划先作最污秽、最败坏地方的人类，先作成一批模型标本，把你们找上了，要不是神这么计划那你们就永远沉沦了，所以，说你们最幸运这可以，但是没有丝毫可夸的，绝对不能夸口。
